Police: Brick Driver, 60, Killed In Manchester Crash Wasn't Wearing Seatbelt

A 60-year-old Brick woman wasn't wearing her seatbelt when her car went off the road and hit a utility pole in Manchester Township, killing her Thursday evening, authorities said.

Lynda Brown was heading west on Beckerville Road in a gray 2012 Ford Escape when she veered off the centerline and ran off the road, Manchester police Capt. Todd Malland said.

Brown struck a utility pole that continued into the woods, where her car slammed into a tree.The crash happened near Route 70 in the Whiting section of town, around 5:30 p.m.

The heavily-damaged car was found in the woods by police, Malland said.

Brown was unresponsive when first responders found her, and subsequently pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The crash and the cause remain under investigation.
